CALGB 9665 - "The CALGB Leukemia Tissue Bank"
Treatment Plan (Supplied Drug: N/A)
Objectives
To collect and store specimens from every newly diagnosed pt w/acute or chronic leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome who are entered on a CALGB protocol for prev untreated pts.
Sample Procurement
Required Samples
- Bone Marrow Aspirate: 5cc BM in 1 green-top (heparinized) tube at times of dx, relapse, and during remission. Obtain prior to any therapy and prior to therapy w/hydroxurea, as well.
- Blood: 8-10cc whole blood in 1 green-top (heparinized) tube at times of dx, relapse, and during remission. Obtain prior to any therapy and prior to therapy w/hydroxurea, as well. Collect in addition to BM, not in lieu of BM.
- Buccal Swab: 2 buccal swabs from inner cheek. Put each brush into a separate 15ml conical screw cap tube w/o any medium. Store tubes at 4oC until shipped, but may be shipped at room temp along w/other specimens. Collection should occur only at dx, but may be obtained at other times if not done so previously.
Sample Shipment
Ship all specimens on same day they are obtained. Send at ambient temp, any day, via overnight carrier for next day (A.M.) delivery to: Michael Caligiuri, MD; CALGB Leukemia Tissue Bank; Columbus, OH.
Eligibility
- Prev untreated pts on a CALGB tx protocol for acute or chronic leukemia or MDS. Must be registered to this protocol prior to receiving any therapy for their disease.
- Signed informed consent.
