CALGB 8461 - "Cytogenetic Studies in Acute Leukemia"

Treatment Plan    (Supplied Drug:  N/A)

Objectives
1)  Determine incidence of specific less common primary as well as common secondary chromosome abnormalities in adult AML, ALL, and MDS.
2)  Correlate specific (normal or various prim and secondary chromosomal abnormalities) w/clinical and laboratory parameters.
3)  Correlate specific karyotype groups w/response rates, response duration, survival, and cure in pts treated w/various induction and post-induction regimens.
4)  Correlate specific karyotype groups w/selected molecular abnormalities as studied in CALGB leukemia protocols.
5)  Correlate specific karyotype groups w/multidrug resistance data.
6)  Correlate specific karyotype groups w/epidemiologic data (toxic exposure and family hx).
7)  Determine karyotype changes at relapse and influence of type of change (or no change) in karyotype at relapse on subsequent clinical course.
8)  Identify new chromosomal abnormalities important in leukemogenesis.
